The TouchLinkΓäó command creates both a hypertext link and the destination of that link, a named anchor. The named anchor is created first, followed by the hypertext link. This is the fastest method of creating intra-document links.
To create a named anchor, select the word or phrase which you intend to become the named anchor (ie., destination) of the link, then choose TouchLink™… from the Anchor menu, or type Command-Shift-L. A dialog box is then displayed which uses the first word of the selected text as a default name for the named anchor. You may type the name for this named anchor in the dialog box, then choose OK. The Anchor menu button remains hilited to indicate that the TouchLink™ is loaded.
(You'll note that the NAME attribute of the named anchor is now displayed in the field to the right of the URL popUp menu (see Window Elements for more information). This becomes the text of the HREF attribute when the anchor tag is created. Note that even if the Anchor menu button is no longer hilited, you may still create a link to the displayed anchor by choosing the Quick HyperText Link command from the Anchor menu, as it uses the URL field as its HREF text. If the URL references a document on a defined server (see Paths & Labels Preferences for information on defining a server), the relative path to the current target document will be prepended when moving to a different document.)
Navigate to the point in the current document (or any document in the editor), select the text to be used as the hypertext link, then click once on the checkmark button to insert a link to the named anchor, or click once on the "X" button to cancel the operation.
Back to Anchor menu, on to Hypertext Link, or return to Contents.
